STEM Worshops

Youth Literacy Program, Summer 2026

 Dr. Arthur Hinton and Dr. Bernard Wheatley of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity hosted two days of STEM workshops for our Youth Literacy program this summer!!

Our kids got to perform various experiments:

• Invisible Messages

• Balloons and Pennies

• Melting Ice with Salt

• Water Shapes

• And more!!

Dr. Hinton and Dr. Wheatley showed the kids the magic of chemistry and physics. How chemical properties can be utilized to accomplish various outcomes, with real-world applications (like spreading salt on icy roads!).

The kids were introduced to the fascinating world of STEM and exposed to a field of work they may choose to pursue in the future.
